Vodafone Zambia has launched its new Wi-Fi service offering users ultra-fast connectivity at all major shopping malls and Institutions of Higher Learning in Lusaka and the Copperbelt.

This advanced service offers both Vodafone and non-Vodafone customers the convenience to use data services whilst on the go.  As part of the rollout, the 4G operator is offering customers who connect to their Wi-Fi service for the first time a once-off 50-megabyte trial for free.

Speaking during a media breakfast at the Vodafone Zambia operational hub, Company CEO Lars Stock said:

“With customer needs evolving from voice to data, Wi-Fi is an effective technology to provide seamless connectivity to a large group of consumers in a defined space. We are convinced that young people at university campuses and small business owners at malls will benefit significantly as they stay confidently connected to our Wi-Fi service.”

Vodafone’s advanced wireless offering supersedes the current system of time-based Wi-Fi vouchers to that of volume-based bundles which allows customers to only get billed for data used, not time spent. Therefore, customers are now able to start and stop their data consumption as they please.

“We are again pioneering something completely new to the Zambian market and we are very excited about this. Customers can now choose from the daily, weekly or monthly validity options for a boundless internet experience. It is our firm conviction that innovations such as this will go a long way in establishing Zambia as a technological hub in the region,” added Mr. Stock.

Vodafone Wi-Fi is available at the following locations: The Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS), The University of Lusaka (UNILUS), The National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), The Zambia Institute of Business Studies and Industrial Practice (ZIBSIP), and Evelyn Hone College; The service is also available at Levy, Manda Hill, Cosmopolitan, East Park, Kafubu, and Mukuba Malls, with plans to expand to other locations in the months that follow.

  • When is vodafone reaching rural areas like Mpika? Zambia College of Agriculture – Mpika would be glad to have the Wi-Fi which is in other institutions of higher learning.
