Having been a major sponsor for most Zambian traditional ceremonies, MTN Zambia has partnered with the Nc’wala Ceremony for 2015. The package was received by Gogo Madzimawe in Chipata yesterday who stated that this year’s theme would be “Unity In Diversity“, to promote closer relationships among different  ethnicities in the country.

Handing over the Nc’wala package, MTN Zambia Chief Sales and Distribution Officer Amon Jere said, “Our passion and involvement over the past decade has been because we appreciate the importance of traditional ceremonies in cultural preservation. Zambia is endowed with a rich cultural heritage and there is need to preserve and profile this heritage for posterity and as part of the Zambian tourism package. MTN Zambia shall continue to support the Nc’wala and other ceremonies to the benefit of the country.”

The sponsorship package will be split into 2 parts: K100,000 towards the Nc’wala ceremony organizing committee, and the other K100,000 on promotional material such as clothing and other advertising costs.

MTN Zambia promised that they will make sure there is uninterrupted network connectivity as the Nc’wala ceremony proceeds due to the high turnout of people expected, who will increases the tower usage capacity in the area.

In related news, MTN also wants to promote the use of its Mobile Money platform in the area by partnering with the NWK Agri Services by enabling cotton suppliers to get paid through Mobile Money after supplying their produce to NWK. It’s a more convenient way of sending and receiving money and reaches more of Zambia’s unbanked population than most financial institutions will.
