Airtel Zambia assures customers of continued communication services in wake of Covid-19 pandemic

Airtel Managing Director Apoorva Mehrotra has assured all Airtel customers of continued communication service in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Airtel is committed to ensuring that customers are able to communicate with family and friends during this period that the World is battling with the COVID 19 pandemic and as a family, we are devoted to ensuring that our employees, partners, shareholders and customers feel supported and confident in how we respond in the face of adversity.

“As a company we are confident that we will be able to beat this pandemic with the cooperation of our employees and customers together. It is for this reason that we have put in place various measures in all our retail shops to minimise contact and keeping up with the social distancing protocols that have been prescribed by the Ministry of Health. We encourage our customers to co-operate with our retail staff as they enter all retail shops.” Mehrotra said.

Mr. Mehrotra said in light of the current situation, transaction fees for person to person on Airtel Money will remain at zero cost. This is to ensure free flow of funds between friends and family and also facilitate easy payment of bills and pay for other essentials remotely.

“We also encourage our customers to take advantage of mobile transaction services in order to pay for various goods and services as this is the safest way to transact especially in this difficult time we are undergoing. We wish to remind all our customers that Airtel Money transactions from person to person continue to be free until April 30th across all bands and customers are able to purchase talktime and pay bills through this service in the comfort of their homes and offices. ”

“We also take this opportunity to thank the Bank of Zambia for increasing Wallet Limits to enable more customers to transact using Airtel Money,” Mr Mehrotra said.

He added that customers could still connect with their businesses using the 4GPocketWiFi (up to 10 devices) and 4GSmartBox (up to 32 devices) or entertain themselves at home by downloading the Airtel TV App which brings a world of entertainment straight customers’ phones and is free for all Airtel users with no subscription fees.

“We will continue to assess the situation and take appropriate action so that you have no disruptions and can stay connected with your loved ones. We would love to hear your ideas on how we can do better and go the extra mile helping you in this situation,” Mr. Mehrotra said.

  • 4G which doesn’t live up to the name in speed or specification. The same applies to the other two MTN and Zamtel.

  • When did Airtel TV app became free. As for me it runs when I have bundles
