Zamtel wins big at the annual Zambia Institute of Marketing awards

Zamtel racked up a number of awards at the recent Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) awards held in Livingstone this past weekend. They won a substantial number, which is quite commendable for a local, Zambian for their products, promotions, and marketing campaigns.

The following awards were conferred on Zamtel:

  1. Best Product Launch of the Year – Mahala
  2. Best Product Quality of the Year– 6 to 6 Mahala
  3. Most Creative Print Advertisement of the Year– Chalila
  4. Most Creative Outdoor Advertisement of the Year– Zamtelligent (First Runner Up)
  5. Most Creative Television Advertisement–Zamtel Internet (First Runner Up)
  6. Best Brand Marketing Campaign of the Year – Zamtelligent (First Runner Up)
  7. Best Sponsorship Marketing Excellence Award – CSR (First Runner Up)

We have noted heavy investment in marketing activities in the form of events such as the recent Trevor Noah comedy show, BlackBerry launch, P-Square concert, sponsorships, CSR,  a renewed online presence via Facebook and Twitter, and various other below the line tactics such as free airtime and SIM cards at these events, branded vehicles, and a massive outdoor advertising campaigns. With these awards, the realised increase in customer numbers, the Zamtel Team have dedicated these awards to their customers.

We are glad to see Zamtel transformed into the a multi-segment brand, with offerings for the youth, family and businesses across a wide spectrum of products in voice, data and internet. Not only are they a fully-fledged telco, with fixed and mobile solutions, their portfolio of Value-Added Services has increased tremendously over a short time span. We hope that more innovative products, promotions and marketing events or activities will be undertaken, and that the right recognition by peers and organisations will be conferred on the various players in the telecoms space.

With a looming IPO, not only has Zamtel positioned itself as a local corporate worth investing in, it is now transformed into a regional powerhouse worth considering as a success story among the likes of Econet Wireless.

We therefore congratulate the Zamtel Marketing Team, led by Evans Muhanga, for having continued lifting their brand to new heights. More so for now owning the local (Zambian) space with the ZAMTELLIGENT tagline.
