Zamtel and Barclays Bank Zambia Plc have announced the launch of a unique online payment solution to bring convenice and enable Zamtel customers pay for various communication products and services.
The two institutions bring together years of experience and unique expertise in telecommunication and financial services to deliver a payment solution that is safe, secure, reliable and efficient and is consistent with provisions of the National Payment Systems Act (2007).
Through this partnership, Zamtel customers will be able to pay for their data accounts on ADSL as well as purchase credit for mobile numbers from the comfort of their home or office, using the secure Barclays e-Commerce platform.
“With the e-Commerce solution, users will be able to purchase credit, data bundles on ADSL, check credit balance and view payment history,” said Zamtel Chief Marketing Officer, Loh-Zindaba Sakala.

If this was a clear MVP it’d be laudable. But at this point it brings nothing new to the table. Thousands of merchants out there still need practical online payment solutions, not PayPal.
