Zamtel and Kazang launch digital finance partnership

Zamtel partnered with fast growing payment processing services provider Kazang to enable Zamtel customers access various services at all Kazang outlets across Zambia.

The partnership means Zamtel and Kazang have integrated their platforms to support the provision of digital finance services for Zamtel customers and the registration of SIM cards at any of their kiosks and retail stores.

As a result of the partnership, Zamtel customers can also buy talk time and pay for utilities from the over 9,000 Kazang locations countrywide thereby reducing the need to make cash payments and help fight the spread of Covid-19.

As Zamtel we are excited about the new partnership with Kazang. This partnership will enable our customers to buy electronic talk time, perform mobile money cash-in and cash-out, do sim registration and pay for utilities at over 9,000 Kazang locations country-wide.  Mr Mupeta said

Zamtel Chief Executive Officer Sydney Mupeta said that such partnerships are fundamental in the development of an efficient mobile money ecosystem.

Mr Mupeta said partnering with Kazang further demonstrates Zamtel’s resolve to provide convenience to its customers.

“For us at Zamtel, access to digital finance is a right that should be enjoyed by all and given our countrywide network coverage and Kazang’s strong distribution network, we are confident that millions of Zambians will now start enjoying our Digital Financial products” Mr Mupeta stressed.

“We believe that financial inclusion for all Zambians can only be achieved through partnerships with stakeholders. We continue making great strides in our mission to ensure financial inclusion and this partnership with Kazang will greatly accelerate the provision of financial services to the unbanked,” he said.

And commenting on the partnership, Kazang Zambia Managing Director Leon de Wit said this will increase access points for financial services thereby increasing financial inclusion.

He said that the partnership will provide cheaper alternative financial services for millions of Zambia.

“With the coming onboarding of Zamtel Kwacha on Kazang terminals, Zamtel Kwacha now has another 9000 points of presence throughout the country. As Kazang, we currently have over 9000 active machines countrywide and we are aggressively rolling out more terminals this year,” he said.

“Kazang is not only delivering financial inclusion in urban and rural areas but also increasing financial literacy by bringing more people into the mobile money market and thereby improving livelihoods.”
