Welcome to the terabyte, with love from MTN

Some days the news is too good to be true, you hearing it first on Techtrends.

MTN Zambia is launching the country’s first and only Terabyte bundle.

History is made. MTN Zambia is the largest mobile network operator in the country with over 2.4 million data subscribers. To support the burgeoning subscriber MTN has invested heavily in its nationwide LTE network.

The new bundles are made to cater for the growing data demands of users to use the internet unhindered by low data caps. The new bundles will come in the following sizes:

  • 1TB
  • 750GB
  • 500GB

The 1TB bundle, is the largest bundle ever launched in Zambia. The new bundles are only available on LTE, not 3G, and if you have to ask, definitely not on 2G!

What is a TB? 1 terabyte = 1,000 gigabytes = 1,000,000 megabytes. A lot of data, how ever you break it down. Most devices out there accessing Techtrends will not have 1TB hard disks, when you bundle is larger than your disk.

Without taking the shine off the product, we leave you to ponder what a TB gets you.

I hope this is a start of a new beginning where bundles over 100GB are the norm and we can have competition in that space

  1. good start am sure soon we’ll have affordable uncapped internet for tv and other data intensive applications

  2. Why start from 500 GB? This looks like it is targeted at companies and very, very rich individuals. They needed to introduce lower data bundles, up to 100 GB. I, for one, think I need a minimum of 100 GB a month for home use on my phones, laptops, game consoles, etc.

  3. Great move but its not for the average Zambian. Mtn has the best service but very very expensive out of reach for most of us. I personally love mtn ,but its just too expensive
