CarVer Launches 3rd Party Motor Insurance on Mobile Phone and Online

Contractsure Services Limited (“Contractsure”), a licenced insurance broker, in partnership with a Zambian Insurance Technology company, Datamatix Technology (“Datamatix”), has launched their first ever 3rd Party Motor Insurance platform on the Zambian market called CarVer that will allow motorists to buy third party motor insurance on their mobile phones and/or desktop/tablet.

Motor vehicle owners will be able to purchase 3rd Party Motor Insurance for the period of their choice from first quarter, second quarter, third quarter and/or fourth quarter.

The CarVer innovation leverages the increasing demand for more efficient methods of purchasing 3rd Party Motor Insurance thereby reducing or eliminating the amount of time motorists spend in queues.

Datamatix Technology COO Musonda Chitobolo says the innovation is a milestone in the use of technology in the insurance sector.

“This initiative is one of the many ways we endeavor to bring services closer to the motorist and encourage self-service, the Do-it-yourself culture. This is a great step towards increased use of technology in the insurance industry that enhances service effectiveness while limiting tedious processes,” he said.

CarVer has been launched on wide reaching technological platforms that include mobile app (through the google playstore); on the web app (www.app.carver.co.zm); or for those without internet access on USSD (*348*2# on Airtel and MTN networks).

According to a recent Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) 2021 Annual Report insurance uptake in Zambia still remains comparatively low, around 5%. The CarVer innovation therefore, seeks to contribute to the increased insurance uptake in the country.

Recently the Government of the Republic of Zambia announced a return to normalcy following the restrictions on public interactions as a measure to prevent COVID-19 infections. CarVer service comes as a perfect transactional alternative in preventing the spread of the pandemic.
