ZICB and Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board Launch SmartPAY Platform

Today, the Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB) in partnership with Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) has launched the new ZICB SmartPay platform.

Commissioner and CEO of the WCFCB Patrick Siampwili said at the launch this morning that with this platform business continuity will be ensured, especially after the nudge from the COVID pandemic to make more digital systems for businesses that needed to still run their processes. He said local partnerships are bound to deliver efficient products and services and was elated by the strategic oversight of this innovation.

WCFCB Board Chairperson Emmanuel Mbambiko said the partnership is trying to address the problem of the organization always having to have to deal with paper files and become more efficient. The process of digitalisation initially started with having only a tool for assessments for employers on the online portal, but there was no payment gateway for employers to pay, now there is. Immediately employers plug in, they will be able to receive confirmation, electronic receipts and compliance reports. Settlements will also be done without having to go anywhere in person, from the comfort of their home. He said he looks forward to more innovation in the space and urged ZICB to be even more creative and open to new ideas and synergies that drive efficiency so that clients and partners are served much better.

As we gather here today, we are witnessing the convergence of technology and social responsibility. The eWorkers digital payment solution, in collaboration with WCFCB, represents a commitment to the well-being and financial security of the backbone of our economy – the diligent workers who contribute tirelessly to the growth and prosperity of our nation.

CEO of ZICB Ignatius Mwanza said ZICB is making strides towards a more equitable work environment where people thrive.

“Powered by cutting-edge technology from PROBASE Zambia and supported by the innovative spirit of our teams, eWorkers bridges the gap between employers, workers, and the social security system. Through seamless integration with WCFCB, the social security scheme responsible for compensating our workers, eWorkers ensures that those who have dedicated their labour to the betterment of our nation are protected and cared for in times of need. The ZICB ethos for transformative progress is underpinned by digital innovation through collaborative partnerships.”

He added that the collaboration with WCFCB signifies a collective effort towards a more resilient and secure future. It exemplifies how financial institutions, government entities, and private organizations can unite to bring about positive change in society.

ZICB Board Chairperson Musonda Cheta added that this is an excellent addition to the range of services being offered to the Bank’s corporate partners.

“At ZICB, we believe that progress and innovation should go hand in hand with compassion and care. The launch of eWorkers is a testament to our dedication to these ideals. Through this groundbreaking platform, companies will be empowered to make seamless and secure digital payments to WCFCB, ensuring that workers are promptly compensated for accidents and illnesses suffered while fulfilling their professional duties. The ZICB SmartPay e-commerce platform, which has consistently pushed the boundaries of convenience and efficiency, now takes another giant leap forward by introducing eWorkers. This integration with WCFCB is a testament to ZICB’s commitment to offering innovative solutions that cater to the diverse needs of our clients and partners. By extending our technological prowess to the realm of social security and compensation, we are playing a vital role in safeguarding the livelihoods of the very individuals who drive our economy forward.”

He also shared that ZICB believes this will stand as a testament to what can be built when collaborations happen.
