There’s only one thing Zambians love as much as catching all the Zambian Football League action live in their hometown, and that’s never missing a game on their home TV! SuperSport has been a proud supporter of the Zambian Football League since 2012, and has invested US$ 5.3 million in licence fee payments to the Football Association of Zambia to date to broadcast league fixtures and game highlights to fans.
Now, SuperSport has teamed up with African production company, Vision View, to handle all the live league action of its outside broadcasts. While SuperSport will still host all its regular league coverage on its various channels, the technical component of its outside broadcasts will be now be facilitated by Vision View.
“The Zambian Football League will still be broadcast on SuperSport and the partnership between SuperSport and the Zambian Football Association remains, however we now just have a new outside broadcast partner that will be responsible for the actual live feed. This will have no impact on league fans’ viewing at all,” says Gideon Khobane, CEO of SuperSport.
Vision View is a dynamic production company, headquartered in South Africa. It prides itself on its strong African roots. The company boasts a young, creative and highly skilled staff complement, capable of overseeing every aspect of live TV broadcasts, including outside broadcasts, as well as a range of HD camera equipment and high quality editing facilities.
For the SuperSport live feeds, Vision View will use its four dedicated outside broadcast vans, which can accommodate between six and 24 cameras and are fully fitted with state-of-the-art technology. The vans have previously been used to broadcast live Currie Cup, PSL, Varsity Cup and MultiChoice Diski Challenge games, and have provided facilities for international cricket coverage in the SADC region.
Working with Vision View reflects MultiChoice’s ambition to constantly partner with African enterprises in bringing its world-class content to Africa while engaging and uplifting local communities.
SuperSport has long been dedicated to sponsoring and covering Super League matches live on its SuperSport channels, ensuring that the tournament reaches millions of Zambian fans every week.
This plays a fundamental role in helping to build Zambia’s football community, as these broadcasts enable clubs to generate sponsorships and ticket sales all the while supporting careers in the sports field and creating more funding for sports development.
In addition, SuperSport has also sponsored specialist training for Zambian football administrators, and trained many Zambians in various skills that are essential to managing live sports broadcasts.
In line with this spirit of building skills among Zambia’s film and broadcast talent, MultiChoice recently launched the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) in Zambia. MTF aims to ignite Africa’s creative industries by transforming the film sector through proactive skills development, workplace experience, and internship and mentorship opportunities. This will not only produce a pool of highly trained and experienced young creatives, but also significantly enhance the quality of local content productions.
To pay it forward to the sports broadcast industry in Zambia, SuperSport is donating TV production equipment to MTF for use by its emerging film makers.
As the official broadcaster of the Zambian Super League, SuperSport and MultiChoice Zambia awarded 11 full kit Zappa decoders to deserving footballers who made the 2018 team of 11 during the MTN/FAZ Super League awards that were held at Intercontinental Hotel Lusaka on 4th January 2019.
