ChromeBook Pixel is supposedly the laptop For What’s Next. If you are a visual person and care about how things appear, then Google promises that you will definitely see clearly. The laptop has 4.3 million pixels which work together to deliver crisp text, vivid colours, and extra wide viewing angles. The 12.85” screen has the highest pixel density of any laptop, and a 3:2 photographic format designed for the web puts every one of those pixels to good use.
A 0.55mm layer of touch-enabled glass fused directly to the screen provides smooth touch interactions while preserving picture clarity. It allows you to touch, pinch to zoom and swipe. For better and faster ways of doing, Pixel boots-up in seconds and stays fast, requires almost zero setup or maintenance, and comes with virus protection built-in. Best of all, it stays up to date with seamless updates every few weeks.
Pixel is machined from an anodized aluminum alloy to a tight tolerance, leaving nothing extraneous or distracting: vents are hidden, screws invisible, and stereo speakers seamlessly tucked away beneath the backlit keyboard. The touchpad is made from etched glass, analyzed and honed using a laser microscope for exceptional smoothness and accuracy.
On the other hand, there is no HDMI port. he ports include: 2 x USB 2.0, mini display port, and SD / MMC card reader. The laptop has a decent 59 Wh battery life with only up to 5 hours of activity which could vary depending on usage. Storage space is one terabyte on Google Drive cloud storage for three years, and 32GB solid state drive, with 64GB on the LTE model. The connectivity caters for dual-band WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n 2×2, Bluetooth® 3.0, and a built-in LTE modem (LTE model).
Other specs include: Intel® Core™ i5 processor (Dual Core 1.8GHz) which is accompanied by an integrated Intel® HD Graphics 4000, 4GB DDR3 RAM, integrated 720p HD camera. The size is 297.7 x 224.6 x 16.2 mm and weighs 1.52 kg. The screen is 12.85″ display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, 2560 x 1700 at 239 PPI, 400 nit screen brightness, and 178° extra-wide viewing angle.
ChromeBook Pixel is available for ordering on Google Play but the service is not available in Zambia yet. Alternatively, it can be purchased from BestBuy stores in the US although it’s currently listed as out of stock on their website. Additionally, with online shopping assistant websites like “OnlineShopping with the Post” and others burgeoning in Zambia, it is easy to get your hands on this beaut in only a matter of weeks. Plus it’s available on Ebay. Make sure to include Pixel in your search terms otherwise you will end up with just a regular Chromebook. Time to step away from the conventional HP, Dell, standard Samsung, Sony or even Mac to start exploring new technology. You will never know the difference unless you try something new.
