The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus comes in the well-liked 6.1-inch and magnificent new 6.7-inch sizes2 and have a sturdy and svelte aerospace-grade aluminum body in five lovely colors. Both models have beautiful Super Retina XDR displays with OLED technology that supports 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision, as well as an updated internal design for better thermal performance. The larger display of the iPhone 14 Plus is great for streaming movies and playing games, and it also has the best battery life ever in an iPhone3.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also includes the robust Ceramic Shield front cover, which is exclusive to the iPhone and harder than any other smartphone glass, and are water and dust-resistant.

With a new 12MP Main camera with a bigger sensor and larger pixels, a new front TrueDepth camera, the Ultra Wide camera to capture more of a scene, and Photonic Engine for a huge jump in low-light performance, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus set a new bar for picture and video capture.

The new 12MP Main camera is shown on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

Photonic Engine boosts mid- to low-light performance for images across all cameras by up to 2x on the Ultra Wide camera, 2x on the TrueDepth camera, and an amazing 2.5x on the new Main camera, thanks to a deep integration of hardware and software. Photonic Engine delivers this remarkable gain in quality by using Deep Fusion’s computational benefits early in the image process to give amazing detail, preserve delicate textures, provide richer color, and retain more information in a shot.

Upgrades and improvements for dual-camera systems include:

  • A new Main camera with a bigger /1.5 aperture and 1.9 m pixels for higher resolution and motion freezing, less noise, quicker exposure times, and sensor-shift optical picture stabilization.
  • A new front-facing TrueDepth camera with a /1.9 aperture for improved low-light performance in images and video. For the first time, it can focus even faster in low light and capture group shots from a greater distance.
  • A new Action mode provides an extraordinarily smooth-looking video that compensates for large shaking, movements, and vibrations, even when footage is shot in the middle of the action.
  • The Ultra Wide camera, with Photonic Engine, provides a distinct viewpoint for broader views as well as enhancements to low-light photos.
  • A 10 percent brighter True Tone flash with increased uniformity for more consistent illumination.
  • Cinematic mode is now available in 4K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 24 frames per second.
  • End-to-end Dolby Vision HDR, only accessible on iPhone.

The iPhone 14 series as a whole provides ground-breaking safety features that can give emergency help when it counts most. Collision Detection on iPhone can now identify a serious automobile crash and automatically summon emergency services when a user is unconscious or unable to access their iPhone, thanks to a new dual-core accelerometer capable of detecting G-force values of up to 256Gs and a new high dynamic range gyroscope. These capabilities expand on existing components such as the barometer, which can now detect changes in cabin pressure, the GPS for extra input for speed variations, and the microphone5, which can distinguish loud noises characteristic of serious automobile accidents.

Even improved accuracy is provided by advanced Apple-designed motion algorithms trained on over a million hours of real-world driving and collision record data. Crash Detection, when paired with Apple Watch, effortlessly harnesses the unique strengths of both devices to efficiently get people aid. When a catastrophic accident is detected, the emergency services call interface appears on Apple Watch since it is closer to the user, but the call is sent through iPhone if it is in range of the best available connection.

An iPhone screen reads “It looks like you’ve been in a crash” and lets the user know the device will trigger an emergency SOS if the user doesn’t respond.

The iPhone 14 series also has Satellite Emergency SOS, which combines bespoke components closely linked with software to allow antennas to connect directly to a satellite, enabling communication with emergency services while outside of cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Satellites are moving targets with limited bandwidth, and communications might take minutes to arrive. Because every second matters, iPhone front-loads a few critical questions to assess the user’s position and shows them where to aim their phone to connect to a satellite using Emergency SOS via satellite.

The first inquiry and subsequent communications are then sent to centers manned by Appletrained professionals who can contact Apple on the user’s behalf. When there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connection, users may manually communicate their position with Find My via satellite, offering a sense of security when trekking or camping off the grid. Emergency SOS via satellite will be available to consumers in the United States and Canada in November, and it will be free for the first two years. An iPhone screen reading “Emergency SOS via Satellite” instructs the user to be outside to get a connection, cautions that messages will take longer to send, and prompts users to answer questions to help get a faster response.

The A15 Bionic chip boosts the performance of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The 5-core GPU is still faster than the competition at any price, enabling even smoother graphics for video apps and high-performance gaming, as well as powering incredible camera features like Photonic Engine and Cinematic mode, all while delivering impressive battery life and protecting privacy and security with the Secure Enclave. The 6-core CPU handles demanding tasks quickly and effectively, while the 16-core Neural Engine can perform 15.8 trillion operations per second, allowing for even faster machine learning computations for iOS 16 features and third-party app experiences.

With 5G, iPhone users can stay in touch, share, and enjoy content with super-fast downloads and uploads, better streaming, and real-time connectivity. Support for 5G on iPhone now extends to over 250 carrier partners in over 70 markets around the world, with expanded support for standalone networks. eSIM enables consumers to connect to or rapidly transfer their existing plans digitally, is a more secure alternative to a physical SIM card, and allows users to utilize several cellular plans on a single device. For US versions, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus eliminates the SIM tray, allowing consumers to set up their smartphones more quickly and simply.

Later this autumn, for the first time, Apple Fitness+ will be available to all iPhone users in the 21 countries where it is available, even if they do not own an Apple Watch. The full program, which includes over 3,000 studio-style exercises and meditations guided by a diverse and inclusive staff of trainers, will be available to iPhone users. Users of Fitness+ will get on-screen trainer assistance and interval pacing, and estimated calories burnt will be utilized to advance on their Move ring. Fitness+ will be fully linked with the Fitness app that will be available with iOS 16 and will be located in the center tab, where users will be able to stay encouraged to finish their Move ring through prizes, activity sharing, and other means. Users only need an iPhone to sign up, and can then experience Fitness+ on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus include iOS 16, which has a revamped Lock Screen as well as new communication, sharing, and intelligence capabilities that redefine the way people interact with iPhone. With a multilayered effect that beautifully positions subjects of images in front of the clock and freshly designed widgets that deliver information at a glance, the Lock Screen is more personal, attractive, and helpful than ever. The wallpaper gallery has a variety of alternatives for Lock Screen inspiration, including Apple collections, a Weather wallpaper that shows real weather conditions as they change throughout the day, an Astronomy wallpaper that shows views of the Earth, moon, and solar system, and many more.

Users can now edit or recall recently sent messages in Messages, as well as mark conversations as unread to revisit them later.9 iCloud Shared Photo Library makes it even easier to share a collection of photos with family.10 Live Text becomes more powerful with the ability to recognize text in video and quickly convert currency, translate text, and more, and Visual Look Up adds a new feature that allows users to tap and hold on to the subject of an image to lift it from the background
