Samsung Galaxy Tab S released !

Samsung has announced the launch of Samsung Galaxy Tab S in two variants, the 8.4 and 10.5 inch ranges. They are being priced at $399 and $499 respectively but if they do get to Zambia, expect a higher price. This pricing is causing some controversy as Apple has similarly priced iPads which makes Samsung seem like they were trying to make models to compete with the iDevices.

For our fellow gadget lovers here are the some main specifications of both the Samsung Tab S devices. They have the same features except the 10.5 is obviously bigger and slightly heavier than the 8.4 inch tablet.

They are thinner than their Apple rivals, measuring 6.6 mm only!

Both come running on the Android KitKat 4.4 platform, have 8.1 MP rear cameras and 2.1 MP front cameras (‘good-selfies’ alert). They have a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 Super AMOLED display which guarantees you very sharp image viewing so yes, it’s perfect for videos or games. Plus, the screen has auto-adjusting capabilities that change to suit

When it comes to memory and storage, they have 3 GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, with an additional microSD slot so the devices have enough space for all your applications and saved files.

They also come with fingerprint readers just like the Galaxy S5 for security purposes. You can scan your finger and the device will record your print so only you can unlock your phone.

The most important question would probably be how good the battery life is so we don’t think it’s that bad. The 8.4 tablet has a mAh battery compared to 7900mAh in the 10.5 version which is good enough to handle the tablets’ needs.

The tablets from Samsung lately are mainly from two product lines, the Galaxy and Note ranges but the Tab S has been seen as a direct rival to the iPads from Apple but can they beat that product? We’ll see.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S that has been released is a WiFi enabled version so we hope they create LTE enabled versions too.

Hopefully we’ll get a review sample of the Tab S and keep you posted.
