No Invites Needed To Buy The OnePlus One Smartphone Anymore

OnePlus One

If you have been looking to buy the really cool OnePlus One smartphone here’s newsfor you: OnePlus just posted this on their Facebook page today: “No invites for the #OnePlusOne…ever! Enjoy open sales all day, every day. Plus, 75% discount on select accessories!”

Very few Zambiana have had a chance to get it because of the whole invitation process which truthfully seemed a little complicated and took up too much time. There was speculation that this was done by OnePlus to avoid too much stock being demanded in a short period of time and hence relied on the invites to have some sort of ‘control’ over where their device went.

OnePlus One was launched last year on 23rd April, celebrating its one year anniversary this Thursday. OnePlus wrote in its blog that “In our first big celebration of the One’s successful year, we are opening up sales globally for everyone, every day of the week. We have always wanted to put great products into the hands of more people. And, we now feel confident that we have matured enough to handle the increased complexity that comes along with opening up sales completely.”

It also went on to say “With the experiences we’ve gained with the One, we will be far more prepared to make the same transition with the OnePlus 2. Yes, the 2 will initially launch with invites. We’re committed to maintaining razor-thin margins in order to give as much value as possible back to our users, and this drastically increases our risk.

The OnePlus 2 will bring the challenges that come along with a brand new product, and initially, our invite system will help us to manage that risk. It also helps us to be sure that every OnePlus 2 user gets the amazing experience that they deserve.”

We’ve given the phone 5 stars since it was launched last year and now with its recent update to Cyanogen 12 developed for Android 5.0 (Lollipop) just last week, we expect to see a whole lot more from this gadget, and the yet-to-be launched OnePlus 2.
