Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Lands Next Door in Tanzania

We told you about the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and how it’s up against some of the biggest smartphones on the market. Huawei has definitely gotten its boxing gloves on.

It has been launched right next door in Tanzania by Huawei at a price tag of 1 million Tanzanian Shillings (approximately ZMW 3053) which is not so hefty a price for the phone itself. Peter Zhang, Huawei Tanzania Country Manager said “The recommended retail price of the smartphone is about TZS 1 million and it will be available in most key retailers.”

In brief, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is a very slim phablet at dimensions of 7.9 x6.2 x 2.9mm, including a 6.0 inch screen, making it the perfect gadget for gaming and movie lovers. It’s screen has a 1,920×1,080-pixel full HD resolution for sharp images.

It’s the first Huawei smartphone to run on an 8-core Kirin 925 SoC chipset that is claimed will make efficient use of both power and performance.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 also took a shot at all phones with sensors by having its sensor at the back of the phone where your finger would likely rest when holding the phone, and reviews have reported that it’s highly responsive compared to other sensors in other phones. Fingerprints are stored in an encrypted format on the phone so you don’t have to worry about them being stolen by hackers. Phew!

For the picture loving crowd, you have a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera to spoil yourself with. You can then store them on its 16 or 32GB inbuilt storage variants, or create more space by adding a microSD card up to 128 GB. Oh, and it supports 4G/LTE, if you were wondering.

It was earlier predicted to cost about $650 dollars (slightly over 4000 Zambian Kwacha) but we hope the price in Tanzania will also be the same or similar to what it will sell for here, but if you’re in Tanzania or visiting there anytime soon and want the phone, it’s available in most major phone shops.

A check on Huawei Zambia’s partner MTN’s online shop showed no sign of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 yet.

Huawei is definitely making a mark on the phone scene with its recent products. We’re anticipating more from them.
