After about 2 years as Airtel Zambia’s Managing Director, Ms Charity Chanda Lumpa has resigned, according to inside sources. She was the first female and first Zambian MD to serve in that position at Airtel Zambia and was appointed in 2013.  Before switching to telecommunications with Airtel, she had served in the banking industry for more than 20 years with Ecobank(Togo), Stanbic, Barclays, and even the Zambia National Tourist Board.

Ms Lumpa has a postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Economics, and a Master’s in Business Administration (Finance).

We had an opportunity to get to know her at one Startup Junction in April last year where she was the guest speaker. She stressed the need for youths to be the biggest target market for any company to focus on as they are the ones who will steer the economy in the future, something we knew she believed in seeing as most of  the products and promotions rolled out by Airtel Zambia recently were aimed at the younger generation.

We will keep you updated on her reasons for resigning from Airtel as the story unfolds.
