Airtel Zambia donates to Chikumbi Community School in Chisamba

Airtel Networks Zambia Plc has donated school  books , a water pump and farming inputs worth K7,000 to Chikumbi Community School in Chisamba.

Speaking during the school visit, Airtel Zambia’s Managing Director Mr. Peter Correia said the donation was meant to help the school in areas where it was lacking and hoped that with the water pump, the students would be encouraged to start a gardening project to help the school become self-reliant.

“We (Airtel) are pleased to donate school books, a water pump and various farm inputs to Chikumbi School and it is our sincere hope that these will assist in starting a gardening project that will in turn help the school become self-sustainable,” Mr. Correia said

He added that Airtel would continue investing in various sustainable projects by supporting initiatives that focus on improving Education, Health, Youth ICT development and environmental protection standards in Zambia”

Chikumbi Community School Head Master Mr. Kelvin Phiri said the donation by Airtel will go a long way in supporting the vulnerable pupils at the school.

“This is the first time we are receiving a donation of farming inputs and I can assure you on behalf of the pupils that we will use them to help us grow crops which we can sell and raise funds for the school,” Mr. Phiri said.

Chikumbi Community was established in 2005, has 217 pupils and 6 volunteer teachers who come from the nearby villages.
