Airtel Networks Zambia Plc, the leading and most innovative network provider has been honoured with the Overall Award in the Telecommunications and Information Technology Sector of the Zambia Federation of Employers at 50 Annual General Meeting held in Livingstone.
The company scooped the overall prize for four of its policies which include the Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, HIV/AIDS Policy, Internship Policy and Environmental Management Policy.
The Federation was celebrating its 50th year of existence with Minister of Labour Honorable Fackson Shamenda as guest of honour representing the Republican President His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
Airtel Managing Director, Mr. Peter Correia said Airtel is proud to receive the awards and would continue to have the different policies that changed people’s lives in one way or another, saying:
“We are humbled to be recognised by the mother body of employers in the country and I believe these awards are a true testimony of what we stand for as an organisation. We are passionate about all we do, not just for our customers but for employees as well and this is why you see that we have a robust HIV/AIDS Policy which is meant to educate our staff so they too can pass on the information to their friends and family.”
Airtel Networks Zambia Plc was handed the award by the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) President Mr. Chishimba Nkole at the ceremony held at Livingstone’s Chrismar Hotel. Senior Human Resources Manager Raymond Ngoma was on hand to receive the award on behalf of Airtel.
The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) is a central organisation for all employers in Zambia and is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the general membership. The Federation was established in 1966 and exists to promote and protect the interests of the employers through lobbying with the government on labour and business legislation and representation at local and international conferences.
