2 reasons why your Skype call quality may be poor

Most Skype users complain about bad feedback or low quality or dropped calls when using the application and now Skype has come forward to explain why this could be so.

  1. Network bandwidth: may be too small depending on your internet/mobile service provider to put out a high-quality voice over internet protocol (VoIP) calls. Thus, users will experience lower quality or even dropped Skype calls. Poor mobile networks are often the culprit in Zambia as most ISPs have not managed to provide consistent internet services. 3G and 4G/LTE networks that support VoIP services may also not be present in some areas and users may fail to connect.
  2. Low quality of device’s speaker, microphone or camera: This may be due to the use of a low-budget phone that does not have high-quality speakers, microphones or cameras hence giving out crappy audio and video output. Cheap is expensive, they say. You may consider getting a new device.
