Qualcomm’s Snadragon 835 to launch in early 2017 devices

Snapdragon 835

In November we shared that Qualcomm and Samsung had partnered to create the newest Snapdragon 835 which would consume less battery power and have enhanced performance for devices and now the chip is here.

It will be be available in new devices launched the first half of this year and is will make VR experiences way better.

The Snapdragon 835 is 35% smaller in package size and consumes 25% less power compared to its previous flagship processor, supporting longer battery life and thinner designs, reports Telecompaper.

With an advanced 10-nanometer design, the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 processor can support phenomenal mobile performance. It is 35% smaller and uses 25% less power than previous designs, and is engineered to deliver exceptionally long battery life, lifelike VR and AR experiences, cutting-edge camera capabilities and Gigabit Class download speeds. – Qualcomm

Why is this new tiny technology worth the mention?

1. Well, we have been wishing for better battery life as a global community that has shifting to mobile usage as a means of entertainment, work spot and life line in general. The Snapdragon 835 processor chip may give us that, packaged with optimum performance, meaning less lag or hanging of your device when commands are sent.

Qualcomm states the increased performance is due the shared workload by the CPU, CPU and DPS in a device with the processor. Coupled with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge™ 4 users will be able to get fast charging capabilities that may give up to 5 hours of usage of a device in just 5 minutes of charging. We need to see this for ourselves right?

2. In virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) applications the Snapdragon 835  processor promises to provide better imagery, better sensors/intuition and much better sound quality.

3. In cameras the processor will support dual cameras to produce higher quality images taken from a distance, and improve stability of any image taken as the Snapdragon 835 has Electronic image stabilization (EIS) integrated in the chip.

Lastly, we look at mobile security with the processor. ‘A Snapdragon 835 processor contains the Qualcomm Haven™ security platform, a combination of hardware, software and biometrics technologies that help to make online banking and payments more secure than ever’ (Qualcomm).

Looking forward to seeing the new generation of devices using Snapdragon 835. May the long battery life gods be with us.
