Press Release: Airtel hands over classroom block valued at K332,000 in Siasikabole

Airtel Networks Zambia Plc has officially handed over an 8 classroom block to Choma based Siasikabole School in Siasikabole Village.

The school which was officially adopted by Airtel in 2014 has been renovated at a cost of K332,000 to improve the habitability of the children’s learning environment. The school was identified by the Ministry of Education and is located in Siasikabole village, 45 kilometres away from Choma town.

Airtel’s Managing Director Mr. Peter Correia who handed over the block to School headmistress Mrs. Vinidah Syamujaye said:

“As Nelson Mandela was once said: ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Over the years we have worked closely with the Ministry of Education in adopting Schools countrywide and  complementing  Government’s efforts in improving the learning-teaching environment in Zambia. Today is one of those days we happily hand over a refurbished 1 x 8 classroom block valued at K332,000 to the Siasikabole community as we continue taking pride in the education of children whom we consider as the future of our country.”

Receiving the classroom block, Siasikabole School Headmistress Mrs. Syamujaye thanked Airtel for the gesture and continued commitment to changing the lives of people  through their various Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.

“Siasikabole has been facing a lot of challenges with regards classroom space especially now that we have over 800 pupils. Since its establishmnet in 1932, Siasikabole School has never received any renovations but today I am excited to be the headmistress when Airtel has come to our rescue by refurbishing the classrooms where our pupils can now learn in a conducive environment.” Mrs Syamujaye said.

  • Nice gesture, but when are they upgrading their data service to 4G? Are they patronisingly suggesting that 3.75G, which is just 3G, is all that we deserve as a developing or poor nation?
